Marble & Natural Stone
Stone is not tile. It is porous, it is rarely calibrated, it stains, and the wrong setting material will show through it permanently. It is also the most beautiful thing you can put on a floor, which is why it is worth doing properly.

Set a light marble in a grey thinset and the grey reads through the stone. It is called picture framing and it cannot be fixed after the fact. Light stone gets white thinset, every time. Small detail, permanent consequence.
Unsealed stone drinks grout pigment. Seal a honed marble first and the grout wipes off it. Grout it raw and you have a permanent haze in the surface. We seal before grouting and again after, and we will tell you what the maintenance actually looks like so there are no surprises.
Natural stone varies from crate to crate. We blend from multiple boxes as we lay so the variation is spread across the floor instead of showing up as a patch in one corner. It is slower. It is also the difference between a stone floor and a stone floor that looks like it was installed in sections.
